Hi! My name is Milena. I like books, games, art, crafting, tattoos, cats, dogs, actually animals in general, the north, coffee, vegan food, nice people, learning new things, ...
I love stories that are dark, disturbing, and weird, but I can enjoy almost everything (for example, one of my favourite games is Slime Rancher and I'm a sucker for Jane Austen movie adaptations).
I'm a storyteller by heart. I love everything about it. Writing is the most obvious discipline, but there's also an art in environmental storytelling, character design, or cinematography, to name a few examples. It's this variety that makes storytelling so fascinating for me.
My personal writing covers a wide span of fantasy, sci-fi, horror, and the weird. I write novels, short stories, and interactive fiction.
I'm in the games industry since my internship in 2019, starting off as a narrative designer, but also gathering experience in game writing and cinematics design.
When I was a kid, before I learned to read, my mum once said to me that I will love reading as much as she does. Fast forward 20+ years, I wish I had made a list with every book I ever read (and how often I read them).
But not only did I love to read, I also started writing as soon as I learned the alphabet. I retold stories I read and made little illustrations to them, I wrote fanfiction before I even knew that was a thing, and of course created my very own stories.
After school I applied for literature, art, and media studies at the University of Constance (Konstanz). I learned all the theoretical stuff and also a lot of the practical, and at some point had to face the fact that most of my writing thus far was actually really, really bad.
And that's great! Because now I don't only know what I did wrong, I also know how to do it better. I'm still watching writing videos, reading books about writing, and analysing stories every day, and I enjoy every level up where I discover something I can do better.
